Why does God allow suffering?
Perhaps you are a Christian with questions about the nature of God or having a crisis of faith, cause of tragedy in his life. Or maybe you're not a Christian, and wants to know how can we believe in a God who loves all the pain and evil happening in the world around us. Agnostic, atheist or a believer in God, we have all these questions lie in your mind occasionally. Even those of us who believe with all our heart in a loving and powerful.
Most atheists strongest argument about Christianity had said in substance: "If God is love, would end the suffering, unless he is not omnipotent. And if that is all-powerful, should not be loved, or had to put end the suffering. "
There are several ways we look at this problem. Naturally, we turn to the Bible for answers, but also look at the world around us, and how the universe was created, God and understand his reasoning.
To understand why suffering comes, we must understand the causes of this suffering. It seems that there are two main types of events that can cause suffering in the world. The first, called natural evils, and second, that we call artificial evils.
Natural evils are what we start. These "evils" are natural disasters such as earthquakes, and diseases like cancer.
If God was so loving and almighty, why that allow tremor land, famine, drought, cancer, crib death, or a bunch of other things?
The answer to what we have to consider other things that the Bible says about God. We are told it is a moral God. It requires a clear delineation between good and bad consequences, and that actions have. The Bible tells us that God is perfect, which means that its construction must follow the rules early. The universe must have an order that nature requires.
So, created a universe and a world in order. It has laws which govern it. The speed of light, gravity, birth and death. Each action an equal and opposite. All the things we learn in science classes.
Science has learned a lot about how the universe was created. It tells the birth of stars, the creation of planets, and inevitably, how the land came to be. God created the universe in such a way that leads to life, and finally, mankind. Thus, we have volcanoes, earthquakes caused by the tectonic plates of change, we have extreme weather conditions. These are things that the earth is used to maintain balance.
It's God's fault that man has decided to build cities along fault lines where quakes occur in land often? Is it God's fault that we have built cities right under active volcanoes or along the coast known for hurricanes? We need to look even for the causes of these "evils".
What is cancer or diseases? One could argue that God could prevent that happening though, this must not have been created first.
Once again, we turn to science. Although controversial, evolution is a very solid scientific theory. Although not fully understand how complete it, nor do we have a detailed map the evolutionary tree from start to finish, the evolution can be demonstrated to have occurred and can not be ignored.
Evolution is one of the greatest achievements of God. He knew that to create human beings, just need to start with some single-celled organisms, and let it evolve for a few million years. God is patient. I knew that one day we be what we want are today.
However, with the goal of evolution to work with us to create all things must come too. Unicellular organisms are still there. Some of these bacteria are incredibly useful, even necessary for us to survive. However, others have evolved in other directions, and became the type of bacteria and viruses that cause disease.
The evolution process is self-correcting. If a genetic mutation to benefits for children, so usually concludes the gene pool, because that child is more suitable for survival and reproduction. A mutation negative causes of illness and possibly death, but also makes it less likely that the creature race and the spread of the mutation negative.
In humans, However, we changed the natural order of things. Instead of allowing the poor genetic mutations that are eliminated from the gene pool, we found a way to correct the problems. We lentils People with vision problems, insulin for diabetics, treatments for all types of genetic defects.
We do it because we follow the moral law of right and wrong. We see people suffer, and we as a species to protect the needy, those who have less than us. That's right, and that's what God wants.
It's a way long term, the Instead of saying that we as human beings, working against the natural order of life, and because we allow these genetic deficiencies of continue in the gene pool, we continue to see these genetic diseases in mankind.
The second type of evil we must examine I call this man is evil. Manmade Evil refers to rape, murder, etc..
Many bad things to good people. Good people get robbed, assaulted, raped or even killed by mistake in the firing unit. How could God let these bad things happen to people so good?
Part of the answer lies in our creation by God. The Bible says that when they were created, God given a choice between good and evil, and to understand the difference between them. He gave us free will.
This means that you can treat people well, or injure people. You can choose to protect the needy, or betray someone who trusts you.
You might ask about things that happen to you that have not been caused to a choice you make. Nobody chooses to be raped or murdered, after all. However, the choice was made to injure another person. God will protect the freedom of making bad decisions, just as it protects the ability to make good decisions. If God were to prevent someone from committing murder, would be the elimination of the murderers of free will.
This may not sound all that comforting, but it should be. Consider this: when something bad happens to you, how you manage it? Do you abandon your faith? Did you call for help from God? Do you hide from the world and decide that the world is against you or you learn what happened and be a better person?
The other part of the equation is God's plan. In the eyes of God, time has no meaning. It is timeless. His plans for humanity could be extended for thousands of years, and he is a blink of an eye time. At the same time, working tirelessly at any time for their well-being. He knows the pain that experience can render a person better in the long term.
For example, consider the story of a young woman. This young man was asleep in his bed, home alone when a man broke into her house and brutally raped. The suffering of this woman with experience would be unthinkable for most people. There was nothing to provoke this man hurt, however, came out of his way to do it.
His reaction was to withdraw from the world, away from the men, avoid human contact. For a time, this may have occurred. However, with the work she has learned a horrible experience, and was able to grow and become a better person. But not this woman, so young, is a counselor for women who have had similar experiences. Because we felt the pain, trauma and fear a tragic moment, is able to help other women through their fears, doubts, and his hatred.
This woman was able to help these women, if he had not gone through their own testing first?
There is another reason why God allows bad things to happen. As for how the universe was made, we can see that was created to be rules that all that follows strict guidelines. Again, look at the stations of the gravity of molecular reactions, and all that God has created as proof that he needs the order. Each action requires a reaction. The Bible tells us that God is perfect. This means He created the universe according to its nature and whether this would go against his nature, and to correct misperceptions, which implies imperfection. Too lead to chaos. If God would interfere with decisions taken to stop a person doing a bad thing, to stop an earthquake occurs, what would happen the world? What would – let these things that the reaction that was supposed to follow?
We do not like humans, understand the plan full of God for us. We may well have to suffer what we have to be to get better.
Thus, the question remains as to the nature of God. Does God love us want to improve, or not counted at all? He is involved in our lives, or simply watch and judge?
There are two stories that illustrate His love for us, and interact there in our lives.
The first occurred in a Canadian church, and is an experience personal author. The congregation of the church consisted of about 300 people, mostly elderly, with a handful Young couples and adolescents. The religious service normally consisted of a cult band, followed by listings of the church, followed by more songs with the cult band, followed by the sermon. Although it was generally fun, the musical could be a difficult moment because only a few people who could really sing.
On this special day, many members of the congregation felt the loss of a limb the church. It was a great woman, always helping with the church children and was loved by everyone. She died of cancer, and congregation felt the loss. However, the cult band doing its best to lead the congregation in singing. Because of the pain that everyone feels, and
During the last song before the sermon was to begin, it all started as usual. It is difficult for everyone to get the song started, many people do not know the song, and played with words, but, taken all over quite quickly, and the song grew, sounds nice, but not really great.
However, during the song as the congregation joined the choir, something has changed. Suddenly, all the congregation fell exactly in the good tempo, everybody sang together, and, most surprising of all, everyone was in sync. The song sounds good going to be totally perfect.
The whole assembly was realized what was happening and looked around the other with admiration and astonishment. The cult band said they would return to the beginning of the song and repeat. This sense of wonder and perfection, continued until the end of the song. When the song ended, most of those present openly wept or looked around fear. The fear was not only inspired by the perfection of the song, but also because we all felt singing. He felt the love, compassion, and comfort that was purer than anything that could put into words.
This shows one of the ways God interacts with us in our suffering. You may have called home one of his son, but he was there to comfort friends and family that has been lost.
The second floor, which can show how God interacts with us, allowing us to live by the rules established, concerns a young woman.
This young man was involved in a relationship with someone who was very happy. Due to circumstances beyond the control of the couple, their relationship ended abruptly in a shock for all concerned.
It can occur when a relationship ends, she fell into a depression incredible and contemplated suicide. One day she went to work, worked through their days, then got into his car go home. Your unit needs to take a road with a long straight path taken by a U-turn.
When you reach the long, straight, press on the head, and ran at once, with the intention of hitting the separation wall and ending his life.
However, when approached the wall, at speeds over 100 mph when he heard a voice in his head, unlike anything I had heard before, and said: "NO!" Just a word, but was persuaded to slow down and get home safely.
This young woman is still alive and has a much longer life happy that she thought it would, because that voice was heard. This young man is not a Christian, but she can not explain this voice would come without the opportunity to come mind. However, because I heard that voice, and obeyed, it is possible that your life will become, over time, what God has planned for she.
This story tells the other way God enters our lives. In extreme cases, can speak directly to us and told us that wants. It does not oblige us, however, but let us make a decision whether to obey.
At the end there is a very important thing to consider about human suffering. According to the Bible, her life is dedicated to one thing and one thing only. That something is to make a choice.
You can live your life, evil, and having personally damaging, God hates you hurt, or even turn against God for another religion or no religion in his life. You can make life a past injury. You can make your life for nothing but to be injured. And when they die, the only thing that mattered in his life that have been injured, he has suffered, and his death means nothing, because this is only the end of suffering.
The other option is to choose for Christ. His life becomes more suffering. It becomes an opportunity to do more, do more with their lives, and try to help those who suffer. This means the possibility to show love, care and companionship to those in need. And when you die, that decision becomes the most important thing in his life. Instead of being all the suffering, pain and suffering is insignificant, because when you die, you spend the rest of eternity in the perfection of order with God as He wants.
In this perspective, what is most important to you? A comparative time of sorrow, pain or an eternity of joy and love forever?
Your choice will make a difference. If you make the right decision and choose love rather than hate, if you choose to help others instead of being the cause of pain a person may be another avenue that God uses to show his love for his people. Helping to be a friend in need, or help a perfect stranger, may alleviate the suffering of others, and surely enrich your life.
