I have acid reflux disease (GERD) and takes medication for it, sometimes I chest pain, over my chest pressure and pain all the way back, my old doctor named spasms esophagel I also a severe anemia that can cause chest pain, breathlessness and weakness, I do not absorb iron because of my stomach. Now my question, I got a new doctor and he wants me to have a nuclear stress test disease'm heart terified of radioactive dye and I am I not sure that part of the activity due to anemia, should refuse to test? get a second opinion and get anemia corrected first and then pass the stress test. Serious opinions please, or have had blood tests yourself. Thank you
Hello, I understand their fear of nuclear stress test. Having had the same symptoms you describe above for Christmas, I had a stress test consulting cardiologist nuclear but I was terrified of having. They thought I was possibly esophageal spasm (because nitroglycerin can relieve these and chest pain), but not sure because there were signs of strong heart. The test is very accurate. The dye is not bad and I had no effect side (I am particularly sensitive to drugs and dyes) and the test revealed that nothing was really happening with my heart, thank you God, I (and my doctors) can be sure of that. You just do better at the exercises and if you can not go, do not force it. Try the test – which will provide a better understanding What's going on. See if the doctor gives you a little something for anxiety before the test wells. But I say go for it.
