Kids Who Fights Cancer Face Heart Risks
It seems unfair, but has recently been demonstrated – the children who survive childhood cancer go have a greatly increased risk of heart disease. A 20-Year Study of Childhood Cancer Survivor Study has been completed recently, and found that survivors childhood cancer is 10 times more likely to have atherosclerosis, 6 times more likely to have heart failure, and 5 times more likely to have a heart attack than those who were cancer-free childhood.
The study of cancer survivors, compared with children in the greater variety of cancers, including Hodgkin's disease, leukemia, brain tumors, kidney tumors, and lymphoma. He saw the cancer survivors and their brothers and sisters, and found that after 20 years, 2% of cancer survivors had atherosclerosis, which was 10 times higher their brothers, 4% of survivors had congestive heart failure, which was 6 times the average of their brothers and sisters, and 5% of survivors of a heart attack at some time, which was more than 5 times the number of his brothers had. It was also found that 6 times the number cases of pericardial disease than their brothers and sisters, 5 times the number of cases of valvular disease.
Although cancer survivors live longer healthy, the biggest risk still exists.
