angina from stress

The most common sign of heart problems is angina or known merely as chest pain. It can be defined as pressure, squeezing or painful feeling in the chest area. Sometimes, people mistake angina to be indigestion which sometimes causes people to experience strokes. Although pain from angina is usually felt on the chest area, some people may experience it in their shoulders, jaws or back. Most researches relate the condition to serious illnesses like coronary heart disease or hypertension but there are also studies which say that people may also develop angina from stress.

Angina is said to usually develop when the arteries accumulate excessive deposits from lipids and other foreign debris. When the plaques build up and harden they narrow the arteries therefore the normal flow of blood is disrupted. People who are experiencing angina may feel nauseous at first then will feel other symptoms like exhaustion, anxiety and severe pain in specific areas of the body. These symptoms are believed to start lightly then gradually increases when it is not treated immediately. However, some people may not experience other symptoms except for an excruciating chest pain, sometimes it automatically leads to heart failure.

There are various factors considered to cause angina. It may range from health choices to chronic illnesses. According to some studies people may also develop angina from stress, lit can include social, work, or personal stresses. Several studies have seen that people who are recurrently stressed were more likely to develop angina compared to people who undergo de- stressing methods like meditation or psychological therapies.

Doctors say that when a person feels tense, the brain signals the heart to compensate with the changes that stress gives the body, which sometimes causes irregular beating of the heart. Another theory linking both problems is that when the heart exerts too much effort in pumping blood, people may develop tears or lesions in the arteries, increasing the person’s risk in accumulating blood clots which will become blockages. Both these beliefs lead to the occurrence of angina.

Doctors say that conditions like angina from stress, anxiety or depression often lead to serious health problems both in men and women. Taking time to relax and reduce stress levels will not only benefit the heart, but the body as a whole. Doctors may also advice some people to take dietary supplements together with this method to efficiently help prevent the onset of chest pains. De- stressing will also prevent people from developing or worsening health conditions.
